There can't be many twelve-year-olds who can read from the blank pages of an ancient book. A book that since its discovery in the Egyptian desert, has baffled both archeologists and scientists.

But then Millie is no ordinary girl, and what she unearths leads her and her grandfather into a deadly quest. The pair must attempt to solve mysteries behind some of the ancient wonders of the world. They encounter powerful forces as they battle their way round the globe, armed with nothing more than courage and cunning - in search of their ultimate goal - The Key to Chintak.

To self-publish or not to self-publish?

That was the question John Howard must have asked himself after receiving his umpteenth rejection letter. John, from Burgess Hill, received so many identical letters from publishers; he suspected his book wasn't being read at all. To test his theory he sent out a new manuscript: The Tin Drum. This time however, he just typed out his washing machine manual - and yes, you guessed it he received the same Dear John letters in response...."thank you for your submission....whilst we thought your story had merit.....' This wasn't what he'd envisaged when he gave up his well paid IT job to write a children's novel.  His next step was one that many unsuccessful writers contemplate but can't bring themselves to take - he decided to self-publish and in his case it paid off. The Key to Chintak has sold over 5,000 copies and this was achieved by word of mouth.
