The Writing for a Living course, organised by New Writing South, provided marginalised writers a chance to experiment with different genres and learn how to make money from their writing. The course ran for twelve weeks in spring 2007 and was taught by Dominique De-Light and Vanessa Gebbie. Guest speakers included award winning writer, Alexander Masters, journalist Andrew Marshall and crime writer Sue Walker. By the end of the course, one participant had a column commissed by Roots newspaper, BBC Southern Counties will be broadcasting participants 'Emotional journey' pieces and Radio Reverb  will soon be recording participants' 'Real Brighton' pieces.
