Publishing your new writing on Deckshare

An instant way to share your work

You can now publish your own new writing instantly in the Deckshare section of this website. It's very easy to do - but for those who like instructions, here they are! You might want to print them out for reference.

Step 1:  Make a page

1. First, you need to register a username and password.
2. You'll see a Welcome screen.  Select the option to 'Add a page'.
3. You'll be guided through a series of screens for adding a title, your text and - optionally - an image.
4. You'll then be able to preview what your page looks like.
5. At the end select the option for 'Publishing instantly in New Writing'.

Log out and look in the New Writing section. Your page will be published at once.

Step 2:  Create your profile (optional)

When you publish in the New Writing section, all your pages are listed under your own name (the first and last name you chose when you registered).  If you want, you can change this name, add a short introduction to your writing, and upload an image as your 'icon'.  To do this:

1. Go to the home page and log in with your username and password on the LH menu.
2. You'll see some editing buttons. Click on the button marked 'Change details'.
3. On the right-hand side of the screen, select the option for editing your profile in the New Writing section.
4. Fill in the form and then click on the Update button.
5. Log out and go to the New Writing section. You'll see that your listing in this section has changed. 

Step 3:  Check for comments on your writing

If visitors to the website leave a comment on your pages, you'll be able to view them and approve them for publication.  To do this:

1. Go to the home page and log in with your username and password on the LH menu.
2. You'll see some buttons. Click on the button marked 'Add/edit pages'.
3. Click on the tab marked 'Comments on my pages'
4. If anyone has left a comment on your pages, you'll see them listed.  You can then view the comments, edit them if necessary and approve them for publication.
