Cast Adrift is the sixth in Peter Guttridge's series of novels about Nick Madrid. In this one, Madrid's friend Bridget is having an affair with the director of a film being made about pirates in, yes, the Caribbean, so he decides to have a go at being a stuntman. It transpires to be a musical B-movie being made about the life of Blackbeard and it leads, almost inevitably, to encounters with treasure hunters and all things marine, culminating in them being shipwrecked on an island as part of a television survival programme. This novel won the 'Lefty' award (Left Coast Crimes) for the funniest crime novel of the year in 2005.
